Meet "The Family"

Welcome to my personal space, where I'll share a little about myself, past and present.

This is my mom and me in Florida April 2026

Hi! I'm Dyann Carty Ivey

This page is a glimpse into who I am and why I'm writing this memoir. I decided to start this blog as I worked on my memoir, centered around the weighty yet lightweight time of my father's death. The essays I share here are designed to give you a taste of the stories and reflections explored in the full memoir.

Vote for Ray Carty!

To say my dad was a politician is an overstatement. Even though he was the Vermillion County Assessor for three terms, it would be more fitting to say he was a man elected to a job he was in no way qualified for, but one he could get by without overdoing anything.

He made a living working toward his goal of a pension and retiring.

This photo was used in Dad's 1970 reelection campaign ad. Even with all these skinny kids, he lost.

The Gang's All Here.

Thanksgiving 1994. Probably the last picture with Dad, Mom, and all their "kids."

Dang! I wish I still had that vest.
